When Jesus appointed the apostles, He called the poor and the rich, laborers and math nerds, the well-educated and fishermen, the religiously devoted and religious outcasts… even political enemies who probably  spent their whole lives hating one another… Jesus’ call in our life is bigger than whatever we are living for… following Jesus is more important and has greater consequence that whatever else we love and care about. It’s only as our appetites change that we’re convicted that the old wine is bitter… we have to lose our taste for the old wine – the old false religious system of work – it’s only THEN as God gives us a taste for the new wine, as He generates new skins that He fills up, as His Spirit in us casts off the old garments and puts on the perfect garments of Christ that we find hope and salvation.…
