When Jesus gave his last words to the Church he said:
All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.
This has been and still is the great mission of Christ’s Church, and by extension is the mission of His local churches including Redeemer Church Waterloo. We are followers of Christ because other Christians took this command seriously and the gospel spread from a somewhat obscure city in the Middle East all the way to us in an obscure city in the United States of America. We intend to obey this commission by proclaiming the gospel and making disciples as families, neighbors, co-workers, and friends in our city, our state, our nation, and the ends of the earth.

We desire to be missionaries first and foremost in our community and among our neighbors. As a result, we try to enter into the events and activities of our community, contributing and loving our neighbors in Waterloo. On a weekly basis, we meet in homes within the community where interested people can come, relax, share burdens, encourage one another, pray, and study the Word of God in a casual atmosphere. Our desire is that these groups serve as the catalyst to love and care for those who live and work around us in the city as we see the needs and work together to be who God has called us to be.
We are committed to fulfilling the Great Commission within the region and state, and we desire to work with churches and church plants in the Metro East, Southern Illinois, St. Louis, and Chicagoland.
Regionally this work occurs through The Bethel Network, the Metro East Baptist Association, and our friendship with likeminded churches who seek to see God build His Kingdom more than merely our own individual churches.
In 2016, Redeemer sent our first missionary family into the foreign mission field. The Kountz Family was instrumental in the initial stages of our work and it was our joy to send them as an extension of our church family to full-time mission work in Ecuador with Reaching and Teaching International Ministries (RTIM).
RTIM is an organization focused on obeying the whole of the Great Commission around the globe committed to sending faithful men to train pastors following Paul’s command given to Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:2. Redeemer financially contributes to the support of this family and plans to send teams annually in support of this work. Our church also gives to the cooperative program of the Southern Baptist Convention. This giving supports the International Mission Board which sends missionaries throughout the world, as well as the North American Mission Board that sends missionaries throughout the United States and Canada.
